While the artist painted, besides the highly sought-after winter landscapes, spring landscapes with greening trees, early spring landscapes like the painting at hand are extremely rare. - Danish landscape a. portrait painter, started his training at the Aarhus drawing school a. at the drawing school of P.J. Krøyer, 1876-79 he studied at the Copenhagen academy, travelled to Italy, Switzerland, Algeria a. Greece where he portrayed the royal family, in 1883 he studied under W.A.
