Agricola 1834, slightly rest., relined. - From the contrast of the calm sea with the two majestic light houses flanking the harbour entrance and the dramatic clouds in the backlight of the full moon the artists creates a tension-filled unity in cool colours. - German landscape painter, studied 1818-26 at the Berlin academy, until 1850 he lived in Salzburg, Munich, Berlin, Rome a. Naples, thereafter also in Karlsruhe, following the tradition of F.L. Catel he created mainly mediterranean landscapes, also worked by order of the princes Karl a.
