Oil/canvas/wood, 34,5 x 29 cm, monogr. lo. ri. F.R., verso titled. - The painting shows Angelina Pascucci, the wife of the painter Arnold Böcklin who served as model for many of his paintings. The portray was created during Rothbarts sojourn in Rome from 1860-63. - Painter a. graphic artist, trained as engraver, etcher a. lithographer by H.L. Petersen in Nuremberg, 1845-48 he painted views of the residence of the duke of Coburg, travelled to Italy with a scholarship 1860-63, became curator at the royal engraving collection in Munich in 1871. - Mus.: München, Nürnberg. - Lit.: Boetticher, Thieme-Becker, Vollmer, Bénézit.
