K. studied at the Cooper Union Art School in New York. In 1954 he had his first solo show, in 1972 he was granted the Guggenheim scholarship for painting. He had solo exhibitions among others in the Whitney Museum and in the Brooklyn Museum. Mus.: New York (Metrop. Mus. a. others), Paris (Centre Pompidou), London (Tate), Berlin (Neue Nat.-Gal.), Vienna (Albertina) a. others.
