Around 1910/20. Bronze, brown-green patinated. H. 27.5 cm, serpentine marble base: H. 11 cm. Signed H.H. DIETZSCH. Freezing young woman holding a cloth or robe to her chest for warmth. Stylistically based on classic French nude studies such as 'La Frileuse' by Houdon - German sculptor, painter and actor. After working as painter and actor, D. studied sculpture at the Kassel Art Academy by Karl Begas, the brother of Reinhold Begas. Then he changed to Berlin. D. created several heroic sculptures of war and furthermore small and large figurative sculptural works. Lit.: Saur, AKL 27, p. 334.
