Meissen. Designed 1736, made 1992. Porcelain, decorated with colors and gold. H. 33 cm, W. 37 cm. Crossed swords mark, model number 05026, year mark for 1992. Oval lidded tureen on four feet, designed as dolphins, side handles with fully plastic nereids. Lid with a spring nymph leaning against a vase from which water bubbles out. Wave and shell-shaped relief decoration and scattered flowers on all sides. Body with gold monogram 'J' on both sides - German porcelain modeller and sculptor, taught by the sculptor Thomae in Dresden, whose baroque influence is especially visible in his animal figures, in 1731 appointed court sculptor by August the Strong, at the same time beginning his work for porcelain manufacture Meissen, which he directs for many years, his works are among the highlights of early European porcelain.
