The invoice and delivery slip from Galerie Nierendorf dated June 14, 1965, are available as well as the exhibition flyer and picture list. - Exhibition: Galerie Nierendorf, Berlin June 1965, no. 24 - Provenance: Bought in the Galerie Nierendorf, Berlin, 14.06.1965 by Ingeborg Felsner, professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover; thence by descent - One of the most significant artists of Expressionism. K. studied architecture starting in 1901, first in Dresden and then in Munich, though he never practiced the profession. In 1905, he founded the groundbreaking artists’ collective 'Brücke' in Dresden together with Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Erich Heckel, and Fritz Bleyl. He lived in Berlin and on Fehmarn, though success did not come immediately. After serving in the war, he moved to Davos in 1917, where he took his own life in 1938. Though difficult to get along with, the innovative K. ranks among the most significant artists of the 20th century due to his use of color and his engagement with non-European art.
