A large plate from the dinner service for Field Marshal Burchard Christoph von Münnich

Meissen. Around 1738. Porcelain, colored onglaze decoration, gilding. Diam. 29.5cm. Crossed swords mark. Very minor traces of abrasion and gold loss. Sulkowski-Ozier model. In the mirror, the Münnich coat of arms framed by the chain of the Russian Order of St. Andrew, underneath a written cartouche with the motto OBSEQUIO ET CADORE (in obedience and integrity), surrounded by Indian blossom branches and scattered flowers. - Count Burchard Christoph von Münnich (1683-1767) was an engineer and field marshal in the service of the Electorate of Saxony and Russia. He fell into disgrace in 1741 and was banished to Siberia.
