Each lower right autographed and dated Karin Kneffel 2006, low left numbered 14/90. - German painter, an important representative of representational painting in German contemporary art. K. first studied German language and literature and philosophy, then painting at the Düsseldorf Academy from 1981-87, where she was most recently a master student of Gerhard Richter. She received numerous awards and scholarships, including one to the Villa Massimo in Rome in 1995. K. has held a number of teaching positions and professorships, and is currently a professor at the Academy in Munich.
