1930. Oil/plywood. 37 x 29 cm. Lower right signed and dated Kohlhoff 30. Retouchings mostly at the upper edge. - Exhibition: The painting was exhibited: Wilhelm Kohlhoff der Berliner Sezessionist, Museum Zitadelle, Berlin Spandau 1996 - German painter. K. trained as a porcelain painter at KPM in Berlin in 1909 and attended the teaching institute of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Berlin from 1910. In 1913 he began a fruitful collaboration with Bruno Krauskopf, in 1914 he exhibited for the first time at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition and from 1917 also at the Berlin Secession and was awarded the Grand Prussian State Prize. At the invitation of the Turkish government, he worked on a monument to Atatürk in Turkey in 1935. Several of his paintings were removed from museums by the National Socialists in 1937 as 'degenerate'. K. managed to keep his head above water by painting murals and was able to resume his earlier work after the war.
