Hesse, on the reverse of the mat Ex Libris Barbara Finckh, on the backing cardboard label of Galerie am Zürichberg. - Provenance: Ludwig Finckh (1876-1964), writer and friend of Hermann Hesse; Finckhs daughter Ruth Barbara Finckh; her sister Judith Brigitte Finckh; her daughter Hadamut Ulrike Bacmeister; Galerie am Zürichberg, Zürich; private collection Baden-Württemberg - German-Swiss writer and painter, one of the most famous and most widely read authors of the 20th century, also winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature. Among the author's many friends and acquaintances were also artists, such as Gunter Böhmer and Hans Purrmann, from whom he also received lessons in painting from 1933.
