Lower left autographed and dated Nay 64, lower right numbered 55/70. - Literature: Catalogue raisoné: Gabler 73 - One of the most important German painters and graphic artists of post-war art. N. studied 1924-28 as master student of K. Hofer at the Berlin academy. In 1931 he was awarded the Villa Massimo prize. He also travelled Paris and Norway, where he met E. Munch.
