Around 1930. Bronze, dark patinated. H. 20 cm. Signed van Rozen, foundry mark CIRE PERDU SIOT. Naturalistic depiction of a goat licking itself, by one of the few known female animal sculptors - French animal sculptor, born Jeanne Sluyters, sister of painter Georges de Feure, signed her work under the name “Van Rozen” and exhibited several times at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1912 to 1936 and at the Salon d'Automne from 1928 to 1932. Several of her models were produced in bronze and terracotta, including a bear by the Sèvres manufactory.
