Around 1925. Bronze, green patinated. H. 26 x 53,5 x 14,5 cm, marble base: H. 18 x 56 cm. Signed A. BECQUEREL. Beautiful large Art Deco bronze of a panther lying in wait. The high tension before a potential attack is masterfully reproduced here in the low crouching posture of the big cat. - Studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Hector Lemaire and Prosper Lecourtier. He is known for his Art Deco animal figures in stylised harmony of form and close-to-nature observation, had successful exhibition at the Salon des Artistes Francais from 1914 to 1922. Vita:
