Nuremberg. Aorund 1630/50. Silver, partially gilt. Marks: Hall mark Nuremberg, master's mark Georg Müller (master 1624, juror 1643-1647, died before 1660). H. 24 cm, weight ca. 740 g. Slightly conical body resting on three ball feet. Three tall oval medallions on the wall with detailed busts of ‘Hannibal’, ‘Didius Julianus’ and ‘Maximianus Rex’, interspersed with relief floral motifs in fine repoussé and engraving work. Curved lid with a flower-edged rim and ball knob, surrounded by rolled silver threads and leaves. - Literature: Rosenberg III, page 207, number 4192 q (mention is made here of a gilded cup on ball feet with embossed imperial heads between bouquets of fruit, which was auctioned by Heberle in Cologne in 1907)
