1917. Bronze, brown-black patinated. Figure: H. 45 cm, octogonal marble base: H. 12 cm (minimal chipped). Signed and dated ALF THIELE MCMXVII. Patina slightly worn. Dancing female nude in the Art Nouveau style - German sculptor and medallist, trained at the Leipzig Academy of Fine Arts and, after a brief stay in Munich, worked as a busy sculptor in his own studio in his hometown. From 1921, he taught at the School of Applied Arts in Leipzig, where he was head of the sculpture department until 1953. His extensive oeuvre includes numerous small sculptures, including outstanding animal sculptures and architectural works, which have survived despite the destruction of World War II Mus.: Leipzig, Museum der Bildenden Künste Lit.: Herwig Guratzsch (Hrsg). Vita:
