1956. Bronze, brown patinated. H. 56,5 cm. On the plinth, the artist's signet, numbered copy 4/8, foundry mark GUSS BARTH BERLIN. The large crowing rooster I is one of six rare lifetime casts (planned until August 8) of the motif. The plaster model was revised by Marcks in the same year for the crowing rooster II. He masterfully characterized the crowing rooster in an upright prowd pose, with an open beak and distinctive comb, the plumage 'sketched'ä with a few graphic lines. - Literature: Catalogue raisonné Rudloff 659 - German sculptor, graphic artist a. draughtsman, since 1907 he shared a studio with R.
