Georg Jensen, Copenhagen. Designed around 1915, made 1933-44. Sterling silver, partly ebonized handle, marks: DENMARK STERLING, 925 S, master's mark: GJ, design no. 34 A. H. 12,5 cm, weight ca. 270 g. Slim body with slightly bulging walls, pearl rim, flower knob, partially ebonised ear handle - Literature: Taylor/Laskey, p. 64, no. 4 (referred to here as No. 34) - Danish silversmith, 1895-1901 Studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen, then worked in the studio of the Danish court jeweler Michelsen. In 1904 opening of his own studio in Copenhagen where Jensen first produced works in the Art Nouveau style. Soon after he founded the company Georg Jensen, which is famous for their designs in the functional style of the Danish industrial designs.
