R. - Expertise: We are grateful to Mathias Chivot for kindly confirming the authenticity and valuable additional informations - French landscape and figure painter. R. received painting lessons from William Bouguereau and Diogène Maillard, among others, but was most influenced by the avant-garde pioneers Cézanne, Degas, and Renoir. He also took on large decorative commissions, for example for the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. Like his brother-in-law Edouard Vuillard, R. was a member of the Nabis group of artists.
