Around 2000. Bronze, patinated. H. 40,5 x 30,5 x 6 cm. Monogrammed BA, numbered copy 2/6. The seated woman with raven belongs to Altenstein's series of works ‘Auf schmalem Grat’ with depictions such as Penelope (1999), Venezianerin (2003) and Sitzende (2004) - German sculptor, studied sculpture in Stuttgart and then was an assistant to Prof. Jürgen Weber in Braunschweig, from 1975-2009 he taught sculpture at the HfK Bremen and has had a studio in Worpswede since 1994. He created numerous works for public spaces, including the Paradise Fountain in Moorweidenstraße in Hamburg. Alongside Waldemar Otto, Altenstein left his mark on figurative sculpture and was one of the few remaining figurative teachers in Germany.

Vita:
