Athletic male nude breaking a branch on his knees - German sculptor, draughtsman and graphic artist, studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin under Peter Breuer and was awarded the Rome Prize of the Villa Massimo in 1913 at the age of 20; study visits took him to France and Italy. Although he was a very productive artist, his work fell into oblivion after the Second World War Lit.: Vollmer vol. 4, page 198
