Two Novelty-Jewellerypiece Needles with Animal Figures 'Pig' and 'Owl'

Around 1900. 18, 14 ct. and 8 ct. yellow gold, engraved, metal slider added. Weight: in total approx. 8,7 g. Owl: l. 52 mm, animal 17 x 10 mm; pig: l. 60 mm, animal 9 x 15 mm. 1 small diamond in rose cut. The new figurative, narrative jewellery, known as Novelty Jewellery, became fashionable in the second half of the 19th century in the form of insects, animals and objects - it was considered an accessory for both ladies and gentlemen.
