Four Novelty-Jewellerypiece Needles with Exotic Animals 'Snake'

Around 1900. 14 ct yellow gold, metal slider added. L. 59 - 81 mm. Needle with sapphire in round cut (diameter approx. 4,2 mm) with small diamond (small chip). Needle with carved amethyst in scarab style (w. 7 mm). Needle with coral ball (diameter 13 mm). Needle with small opal cabochon (diameter 4 mm). The new figurative, narrative jewellery, known as Novelty Jewellery, became fashionable in the second half of the 19th century in the form of insects, animals and objects - it was considered an accessory for both ladies and gentlemen.
