Copenhagen. 1933-44. Sterling silver, marked, DENMARK STERLING, MM: GA, manufactory mark Georg Jensen, design no. 629 G. L. 33 cm, weight approx. 685 g. Round bowl with openwork cactus-shaped handles. - Gundorph Albertus (1887-1970) joined Georg Jensen's silversmiths in 1911, having previously worked in Munich and Paris. He worked for his brother-in-law Georg Jensen for 40 years and designed the popular ‘Cactus’, ‘Pinje’ and ‘Mitra’ patterns - Literature: Taylor/Laskey, p. 224 - Danish silversmith, 1895-1901 Studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen, then worked in the studio of the Danish court jeweler Michelsen. In 1904 opening of his own studio in Copenhagen where Jensen first produced works in the Art Nouveau style. Soon after he founded the company Georg Jensen, which is famous for their designs in the functional style of the Danish industrial designs.
