Berlin. Around 1900. Silver, marked 800, half moon and crown, MM: O. ROHLOFF BERLIN. Domed round base with leaf scrolls and fruit relief, inscription '12. Juli 1900'. Large recessed top bowl with identical flag in relief and finely chased shell decoration. The mirror with crowned monogram 'FW' (probably Friedrich Wilhelm (II), Grand Duke of Mecklenburg [-Strelitz], (1819-1904). H. 14 cm, dm. 40 cm, weight approx. 1750 g - Rohloff studied at the School of Art and the School of Arts and Crafts in Berlin and from 1891 worked as a teacher of metal technology at the teaching institute of the Royal Arts and Crafts Museum in Berlin. Rohloff was regarded as one of the best chasers and metal craftsmen in Germany and was a frequent supplier to Kaiser Wilhelm II,
