1847. Oil/canvas. 58 x 92 cm. Low right monogrammed and dated RK 1847. Inconspicuous restored, relined. - Polyglot German landscape painter of Russian origin. K. traveled to Italy at a young age. After spending time in Paris and Liverpool, he embarked for South America in 1835, where he became friends with Johann Moritz Rugandas. From 1840, he also traveled to North America. Back in Europe, he lived in Paris, Hamburg, Munich and again Italy before moving to Turkey in 1884.
