Alessandro Grevenbroeck (Dordrecht um 1695 - wohl Venedig nach 1748)

Southern Coast

Lot-No. 501

Oil/canvas. 55,5 x 85 cm. Professionally rest., relined. - Expertise: We are grateful to Fred Meijer for kindly confirming the authenticity - Dutch marine and landscape painter from a family of artists. Dated paintings suggest that G. was active in Venice from 1717-19, later he can be traced to Padua. Some of his motifs were sold to the Tsar's court, but a planned stay in St. Petersburg probably did not materialize. Mus.: St. Petersburg, Bamberg. Lit.: Thieme-Becker, Bénézit.
