After training at the Dijon Academy, he was strongly influenced by Félicien Rops in Paris. He worked as an illustrator for magazines, but became known above all for his prints, which often depict scenes from Parisian nightlife, the world of ballet and peasant scenes. Mus.: Paris (Pal.
