1981. Lithograph in colours/Arches. 50,5 x 66 cm. Unframed. Lo. ri. autographed and dat. Alechinsky 81, lo. le. num. 6/100, as well as blindstamp 'Van de Loo Edition", u. ri. illegibly inscr. - Belgian painter and graphic artist. A. studied typography, illustration and photography at the Brussels Academy from 1944-48. In 1949 he joined the artist group CoBRA. With a scholarship, he was able to continue his studies, particularly in graphic techniques, in Paris in 1951. It was there that he first came into contact with Japanese calligraphy, which played a significant role in the development of his ornamental and symbolic style. He was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 2006 and received the Praemium Imperiale in 2018.
