1982/1984. Bronze, brown-black patinated. H. 16,5 cm. Inside handwritten inscribed For Holger in friendship 8.3.84 Kriester, on the back stamped E.A. KRIESTER. Heads remained throughout his life one of the great themes of Kriester. He shows here in his typical formal language a block-like head in the interplay of abstract and concrete, with deep, vertical lineatures and cut out small mouth on the one hand and naturalistically shaped ears on the other. - Literature: Cat. rais.: Schmied 241 - German painter and sculptor, studied at the Berlin Art Academy from 1961 and lived in Vendone, Liguria from 1982. His work focuses on abstracted heads, such as the 'Great White Head Sign' in the Chancellery in Berlin (1984-87), inn 1996/97 he created a series of 140 sculptures under the titles "Viaggio in Africa I" and "Viaggio in Africa II", in 1997/98 in New York the large bronze 'Segni solari'.
