Around 1905. Nutwood, carved, fabric upholstery. Sofa: H. 98 cm, w. 140 cm, seat depth 55 cm; Armchairs: H. 83 cm, w. 68,5 cm, seat depth 55 cm, chairs: H. 95 cm, w. 42,5 cm, seat depth 41 cm. Five-pieces: 1 sofa, 2 armchairs, 2 chairs, each decorated with finely carved details in the form of hawthorn berries and leaves. Fabric upholstery. - Ensemble rare in this completeness by the master of European Art Nouveau. There is a photo of the Dalai Lama sitting on this sofa. - Provenance: Essen Collection, Hamburg - French decorator and furniture designer, who manufactured his own designs, in the French tradition of the ébéniste. He was one of the outstanding designers of furniture in the Art Nouveau style, and after 1901 formally served as one of the vice-presidents of the École de Nancy.
