Es Männikkö and num. 3/20, on gallery label dat. 1999/2000. - Provenance: Gallery Nordenhake Stockholm. - Finnish photographer. M. is self-taught as a photographer. Motifs of simple rural life, especially of men in his Finnish homeland, dominate his oeuvre. The photographer also found remarkably similar living conditions during a trip to the USA, which were also reflected in his work. The ordinariness and simplicity of the people and motifs gain dignity through composition, lighting, and a coloring reminiscent of Old Master painting. M. exhibited at the Venice Biennale, in Stockholm, Munich and Frankfurt.
