Sculptor and medallist, first studied in Toulon and Marseille, from 1866 at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris, was awarded several times at the Paris World Exhibitions, realised numerous public commissions, e.g. for the new façade of the Sorbonne or the façade of the City Hall in Paris, among others he also created designs for the Sèvres Manufacture.
