Nymphenburg, designed around 1906, made after 1911. Porcelain, underglaze painting in blue, green, brown and yellow. Press mark rhombic shield, '157' and '1', blue painted rhombic shield frontally on the base, laterally incised 'Th. KÄRNER', painter's mark 'L.C.F.' (=Ludwig Carl Frenzel). H. 37 cm, l. 74 cm. - The peacock is one of Kärner's most famous works and received due attention at the Paris Autumn Salon 1910, the Bavarian Trade Show and the Great Art Exhibition in Dresden 1912. - Theodor Kärner who designed many models for Rosenthal and Nymphenburg, was appointed to a professorship at the Academy of Arts in Munich in 1938 and held an appointment as Art Director of the manufactory Allach until 1945.
