Acryl/paper, 112 x 90 cm, lo. ri. sign. Sonderborg, framed under glass, uninspected out of frame. - Painter adn graphic artist of Danish origin, one of the important exponents of Informel in Germany. S. studied at the Hamburg Landeskunstschule under W. Grimm and M. May while making autodidact studies in abstract painting. After study trips to Italy he became member of the artist group Zen 49. In 1955 he won the Lichtwark prize, followed by numerous other awards. He was professor in Stuttgart and Minneapolis. His works were exhibited at the Documenta II and III, he was honoured with a great retrospective in the Stuttgart Staatsgalerie in 1987.
