A magnificent and large spinach-green jade bowl

China, 20th cent. Carved bright spinach-green jade with characteristic black spots. Large oval bowl with wavy-shaped and slightly inverted bowl. The wall completely covered with plastical relief of dragons and large pearls (1 horn min. chipped). 35 x 26 cm. Overall weight 6,34 kg. - This large bowl with its intricate dragon relief stands in the tradition of highly celebrated jade vessels, which refer to the legendary 'Dushan dayuhai' - an enormous jade bowl from the 13th cent. and re-discovered by the Qianlong emperor in the 18th cent. It was then placed by Qianlong in the Beihai Park, Beijing, and inspired generations of jade carvers.
