Olaf Rude (Rakvere/Estland 1886 - Frederiksberg 1957) - Sell & Buy
Danish painter. R. studied from 1905 in Copenhagen, first at a technical school, then as a pupil of K. Zahrtmann at the Kunstnernes Frie Studieskole. In Paris in 1911, Cézanne initially made a strong impression on him. Later, his formal qualities and colouristic certainty earned him the reputation of being the 'Matisse of Denmark'. In 1924 R. settled on Bornholm. Mus.: Copenhagen, Aarhus, Bornholm a. others. Lit.: Weilbach.
