Oil/canvas, 73 x 102 cm, some rest., relined. - French flower painter. M. studied in Antwerp and immediately moved to Paris where he became member of the academy in 1665. He painted for the royal palaces in Trianon, Marly and Meudon. He accompanied the Duke of Montagu to London where he also worked for the royal court, among others in Hampton Court, Windsor and Kensington.
