Meissen, designed 1765, made soon after. Polychrome painted porcelain. Crossed swords mark. Prof. rest. H. 26,5 cm. - About 1740 Kaendler started to modeling the variegated school of mostly oriental figurines which enjoyed great popularity already in the eighteen-fifties. He got inspired by the engravings 'Différents nations du Levant', printed 1715 in Paris and based on paintings in the collection of the Marquis de Ferriol. -
