Posthumous cast around 1980, designed 1930. Bronze with light and dark brown patina, laterally sign. and dat. 'Lambert-Rucki 30'. H. 68,5 cm, marbled base h. 5 cm. - Only a few bronzes were cast during Lambert-Rucki's lifetime. 'Femme aux disques', cast 1930 by the foundry Valsuani in 8 copies + 4 E.A, is regarding its elegant-abstract lines a caracteristic work of cubist sculpture. The present sculpture is a posthumous cast using the original plaster sold in 1979 in Paris (Hotel Drouot) after the failure of the Valsuani foundry. - Expertise: We thank Monsieur Jaques de Vos, Président des Amis de Jean Lambert-Rucki , for his kind support. - Polish-French sculptor and painter, important representative of the French art deco and cubist art. Educated at the Art Academy in Krakow the artist moved to Paris 1911 and received direct connection to the French cubist artists. The famous art dealer Léonce Rosenberg exhibited his works 1921 with works by Léger, Mondrian, Picasso et al. Lambert-Rucki was one of the founding members of the avant-garde 'Union des Artistes Modernes'. His bronzes and wooden sculptures are ranking among the most important works of French cubism.
