Meissen, around 1760. Polychrome painted porcelain. Unglazed bottom, crossed swords mark on the reverse side of the base. Prof. rest. - The figure is part of the series 'Paris Street Criers' designed by Kaendler - since 1753 in cooperation with Reinicke - based on coloured scetches of a French artist and still preserved in the archive of the Meissen Manufactory. - German porcelain modeller and sculptor, taught by the sculptor Thomae in Dresden, whose baroque influence is especially visible in his animal figures, in 1731 appointed court sculptor by August the Strong, at the same time beginning his work for porcelain manufacture Meissen, which he directs for many years, his works are among the highlights of early European porcelain.
