Egypt, 22th/23th Dynasty, so-called 'Third Intermediate Period' (ca 1070 -m 664 B.C). Carved wood, restored polychrome paint on plaster ground. H. 85 cm, w. 46 cm, d. 16 cm. - The upper part of a sarcophagus lid showing the face and chest of a male person. The wig-like head coverning has blue-gold stripes, ear brows and eyelid lines made out of bronze alloy. Rich ornamental pectoral. According to the work and the style of ornaments this piece must be dated in the 22. to 23. dynasty. - Expertise: Certificate by Sons of Farag el Chaer, Kairo. - Provenance: until 1980 Hubertus von Puttkamer, Berlin; since 1980/81 Private collection, Lower Saxony.
