Kopenhagen, design around 1940. Silver, stamped 'Sterling Denmark', mm.: 'Georg Jensen' in dotted circle with sign. of designer 'Sigvard' (production 1945-1977), model no.: '823'. Design by Sigvard Bernadotte for Georg Jensen around 1940. H. 13,5 cm, weight approx. 300 g. (Comp. Georg Jensen Holloware, p. 34 and 278 ff.) - Danish silversmith, 1895-1901 Studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen, then worked in the studio of the Danish court jeweler Michelsen. In 1904 opening of his own studio in Copenhagen where Jensen first produced works in the Art Nouveau style. Soon after he founded the company Georg Jensen, which is famous for their designs in the functional style of the Danish industrial designs.
