Acrylic/canvas, 73,5 x 63,5 cm, lo. le. sign. Kurt Larisch, on the reverse titled a. sign. again, unframe. - Cosmopolitan artist of Austrian origin. L. was son of a miniature painter. He was taught graphic arts a. experimented on animated films. When Austria was annexed by Germany in 1938 L. first emigrated to England, then to India where he worked in an advertising agency. In 1947 he moved to the USA, in 1970 he settled in Mexico where he was soon counted among the countries leading contemporary artists. His paintings captivate by the surrealist contrast of naturalistic figures with overpowering geomatrical objects.
