Ein rationaler Künstler in einer irrationalen Zeit, Hamburg 1990, p. 51, no. 291. - German painter a. graphic artist. After serving the army H. became pupil of A. Jank in Munich in 1917, thereafter he was taught by M. Slevogt in Berlin. He was banned from his profession by the Nazis in 1939 a., with the assistance of friends, was able to hide in France. Like so many artists of the 'Lost Generation' his work is undeservedly unknown.
