Oil/canvas, 61,5 x 50 cm, rest., relined. - Prov.: Old noble collection, Normandy. - The painting shows the tsar in the uniform of the Preobrashenki regiment, sporting the order of St. Anna, the order of St. Andrew as well as the Prussian Black Eagle order. - Russian portrait and water colour painter. S. was educated by Dmitry Grigoryevich Levitzky at the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg. In 1782 he received a fellowship and was afforded a study stay abroad, including studies at the Paris academy.
