Design 1918 from Georg Jensen, executing 1918/19, model no. 244. Sterlingsilver, stamped '925S', executing mark 'Georg Jensen' (1915-19), model no. '244'. (Comp. Taylor/Laskey, Georg Jensen, Holloware, The Silver Fund Collection, 2003, p. 114, no. 3 und p. 380). H. 21 cm, overall weight c. 2700 g. - Original price by manufacture list c. 43.000,- Euro (2012). - The design is from the end of the 1st World War, where the silver manufactures flourished. Designs by Georg Jensen are during these periode much more decorated as earlyer pieces. The two branch candelabrum 244 has a very heavy and richly decorated stem, which Jensen designed in contrast to two airy floral Art Nouveau candelarms. - Danish silversmith, 1895-1901 Studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen, then worked in the studio of the Danish court jeweler Michelsen. In 1904 opening of his own studio in Copenhagen where Jensen first produced works in the Art Nouveau style. Soon after he founded the company Georg Jensen, which is famous for their designs in the functional style of the Danish industrial designs.
