As an extra: engraving, 20 x 13 cm, frontispice of: Paulus Laymann, Ius Canonicum, Dillingen 1663, min. foxing, matted a. framed under glass, uninspected out of frame. - Flemish engraver from a family of artists. In 1592/93 G. travelled to Italy, probably in company of his brother. In Florence a. Rome he collaborated with editors a. artists like G. B. Paggi, F. Vanni u. M. Florimi. Probably around 1602 G. returned to Flanders, in 1610 he became master of the Antpwer St. Luke's guild. In 1636 he settled in Brussels. G. is among the most important engravers who worked for the leading editor Plantin in Antwerp. Moreover he engraved many paintings of Rubens. - Lit.: Saur.
