Oil/wood, 28,5 x 38 cm, some rest. - According to the biblical story Abraham sent his servant Eliezer to find a wife for his son Isaac. Eliezer met Rebecca at a well where she offered a draw of water not only to him but also to his camels. Eliezer therefore recognised her to be suitable as a bride for his master's son. The scene is also the prefiguration for the meeting of Christ with the Samaritan woman at Jacob's well.
