Meissen, around 1740. Flower painting with insects according to botanical models (so called 'Holzschnittblumen') in the manner of J.G. Klinger. 18 pieces for 6 pers.: coffee pot (h. 21,5 cm), tea pot (h. 9 cm), 6 coffee cups with saucer, 6 tea cups with saucer, circular plate, oval plate, sugar box and tea caddy. Min. traces of age. Crossed swords mark. - This stylised kind of flower painting was introduced around 1730. Flower prints were copied after botanical editions, adopting their somehow stiff character and shadowed rims (therefore also called 'ombrierte Malerei'). See: Hamburger Museum f. Kunst u.
